Forbes: Lisin tops Russian tycoons wealth, which rises 5.4% in 2017

MOSCOW, Apr 19 (PRIME) -- The combined wealth of 200 Russia’s richest businessmen grew 5.4% to U.S. $485 billion in 2017 and the number of billionaires rose to 106 from 96, led by Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) owner Vladimir Lisin with a wealth of $19.1 billion, Forbes reported on Thursday.

“In spite of market stagnation and anticipation of new western sanctions, 2017 was successful for the majority of its participants -- the combined wealth of 200 richest entrepreneurs rose by $25 billion to $485 billion and the number of billionaires increased to 106 from 96,” Forbes reported.

“The threshold remained at $500 million, while the entry ticket to the top-10 grew to $12.5 billion (from $12.4 billion a year ago).”

Lisin leads the Forbes wealthiest list for a third consecutive year.

Severstal owner Alexei Mordashov was second with $18.7 billion; Sibur and Novatek’s owner’s Leonid Mikhelson’s wealth fell by $400 million to $18 billion.

Norilsk Nickel owner Vladimir Potanin has $15.9 billion, RUSAL owner Viktor Vekselberg has $14.4 billion, holding Metalloinvest owner Alisher Usmanov has $12.5 billion.
